The role of a cabin crew member is to provide an exceptional customer service to passengers not at the expense of their comfort and safety. They’re trained to deal with any precarious situation which may arise.
Cabin crew aims to make the flying experience a memorable one for the passengers. As a cabin crew member, you will ensure that all emergency equipment is in working order prior to taking off and that there are enough supplies. You will also help passengers to board the plane and give a demonstration of safety procedures and equipment.
Responsibilities
Tasks of the cabin crew vary depending on whether it’s a long flight or a short flight and the size of the team you’re working in. However, some of your duties include.
  • Attending a pre-flight briefing, during which cabin crew are assigned their working positions for the upcoming flight.
  • Performing Pre-flight duties, including checking the safety equipment, ensuring the plane is clean and tidy.
  • Welcoming passengers on board.
  • Serving meal and refreshments.
  • Giving first aid where necessary.










Working Hours

Cabin crew work shifts are usually irregular and unsocial hours. It can include working early mornings, through the night, at weekends and on public holidays.
Qualifications 
A degree is not required for entry level work in cabin crew. Instead, most airlines require good communication skills. Having a degree in one of the following subjects may be useful in showing the airline that you have an interest in this area:
  • Hospitality management;
  • Languages;
  • Leisure and tourism management;
  • Travel.
Also being able to speak other languages may be particularly useful and this could put you at an advantage over other candidates.
